Smoking Mistake by Janitor Steve js@smilingwithteeth.com Category: 2000 Words
This story was entered in the 2008 Summer Short Story Contest in the 2000 Word Category. When it was announced that their
arrival home would be further
delayed by a stop at the supermarket, Jessica Malloy was visibly
upset. She had wanted to get home so she could make plans for the
evening and spend some time on the phone with her best friend
Laura. But as luck would have it, the supermarket was next on the
agenda. Jessica's mother Lori was not in the best of moods.
It was a very hot late June afternoon and the AC in her car was not
working properly. She was in no mood for any back talk from her
daughter. So when Jessica started to give her an argument about
the shopping stop, Lori gave Jess one of those,"You don't even want to
go there right now," stares.
Once out of the car, the three of them walked toward the entrance of the market. The third member of their family, seven year- old Brittany had been quiet up until now. "Can we get ice cream, mommy?" came the child's query. "Maybe I will pick up some ice cream at the store and you can have some after dinner." That answer seemed good enough so Brit did not press her luck. "OK Mommy," was the little girl's reply. Jessica was simply not in the mood for shopping and she didn't feel like walking up and down those aisles watching her mother squeeze various fruits with the hope of choosing the two freshest ones out of the 300 that were there. "Mom, can I wait outside for you," asked the highly frustrated teen. Jessica hadn't been on her cell phone for around 3 hours and for any 15 year- old this was simply not acceptable. Lori gave it some thought and she realized she wasn't in the mood to have Jess standing there and sighing a thousand times while she tried to pick up some fresh fruits for her family. "OK, Jess, I guess you and your sister can wait outside for me." "Mom, I didn't mean Brit too! "I meant just me." "Jess, I am not liking your attitude and you are really getting on my nerves right now." "Mom, can't you just take Brit into the store with you? "Why do you have to be such a b….." Jess caught herself before uttering that last word, but her mother was not at all lost on what that last word was going to be, so she spoke to Jess in a voice that was certainly loud enough for anyone within earshot to hear: "Jess, if you do one more thing today that I do not like, you are going over my knee the minute we get home. Am I making myself clear to you?" In the corner of her eye Jess saw a man walking by and she just knew he heard her mom and what she had just said to her. Jess's face began to blush as she put her head down and said, "Yes mom." "Brit, you stay with your sister and I won't be too long." Lori then went into the store and began her shopping. When she got to the fruit area, she almost squeezed all the juice out of a tomato. Yes, she was pretty cranky right now. The man who Jessica had seen through the corner of her eyes was Robert Sears. Robert had a little bit of shopping to take care of and fruit was on his agenda too. It should also be noted that Robert was a man who was very much turned on by spanking. He enjoyed spanking women and he was quite good at it. So when he heard this woman in the parking lot uttering this spanking threat to her daughter, his heartbeat quickened. In his mind he envisioned this scenario where the mother spanked her daughter right there, in front of everyone. He was happy to see this woman squeezing those tomatoes with such precision. "You seem to really know what you are doing," he said. "Yes, I guess I've got a knack for picking out the best fruits," Lori laughed. The two of them began talking and each made their introductions. They spoke about different things, but mostly about the high cost of gasoline and groceries. Then came the topic of children and Lori said, "My oldest daughter recently turned 15 and I swear, sometimes I just want to kill her." Robert smiled and said, "Well, you don't really mean kill, do you?" Lori said, "No, but she really pushes my buttons from time to time." Then Lori said, "I hope you won't think badly of me, since we just met and all, but I do spank my kids, so that is what I meant by kill." Robert began to feel sweaty and he felt very guilty about this. "Does spanking work for your kids?" he asked. "Believe it or not, it works better on my oldest one, so go figure," Lori replied. Robert was afraid he might say something that would give him away as being some kind of evil pervert, so instead he changed the subject. Finally their shopping lists dictated that they visit different parts of the market, but before they said goodbye, Lori gave Rob her cell phone number. She liked him and she was not about to tell him she had an interest in being spanked. "Why risk rejection before I even get to know him," she had thought. Rob walked away and picked up his final item, which was paper napkins. He then made his way to the checkout area. Jessica wasn't about to allow this short amount of freedom go on by without taking advantage of it. So when her mother disappeared into the store, she quickly took out her cell phone, along with a pack of cigarettes she had bought the other day. When Brit saw the cigs, she said, "Mommy will spank you if she sees you smoking." Jessica wondered why little children felt they had to scream at you when you were standing two feet from them. A few people looked at them and Jessica laughed, trying to hide her embarrassment. Jessica lit her cigarette and called Laura and the two of them chatted on the phone. Brit just stood there inhaling the second hand smoke that was coming at her in droves. Rob looked out the window as he stood on line and saw Lori's daughter smoking! He wasn't sure what he should do. He had this feeling that Lori wouldn't approve of her daughter smoking and certainly not in front of the small girl. As he was considering his options, Jessica finished her cigarette and continued her phone chat. Rob noticed that the line he was on hadn't moved because the cashier was counting the money in her drawer. He thought it odd that he always seemed to stand on the line that was due to have a cash count. Just then, he heard a voice ask, "May I stand in front of you Mister," and it was Lori. Robert laughed and said, "since we don't have a lot of stuff, why don't we just combine everything and put your stuff in one bag and mine in another?" Lori liked that idea and the two of them stood together, waiting for the cashier who seemed to be slower than slow, to finish her drawer count. Robert looked out the window at Jessica and his eyes went straight to the girls bottom. It was firm and round and nice and spankable! And she was smoking and shouldn't he at least tell Lori and let her decide what to do? "Lori, feel free to tell me to mind my own business, but when I got on this line, I happened to look out the window and I saw your daughter smoking a cigarette." Before he could continue, Lori said, "I've had this out with her in the past. I told her she had better never smoke again or I'd kill her!" Robert laughed, "You didn't mean kill, did you?" Lori could not really smile, but the joke was not lost on her, so her face softened a bit and she said, "I will punish her when I get home." When the two of them came out of the market, Lori went over to Jessica and asked her if she was smoking. Robert was standing there and Jessica didn't know what to say. Finally, Lori noticed a slight bulge in Jessica's back pocket and asked, "what is in your pocket young lady?" Before Jess could reply, Lori put her hand in and pulled out a package of Marlboro cigarettes. Lori was outraged and then, if things couldn't get bad enough, Brittany offers up with, "Mommy, the smoke was making me cough." "When I get you home, you are going to get a reminder of what the hairbrush feels like!" "Mom, please I'm sorry. "I won't do it again, I promise!" "Save the promises for later, Jessica Taylor! "You are going to get it bare tonight!" Robert was hoping his erection was not visible but all those threats were simply more than he could handle. Lori turned Jess around and gave the seat of her jeans one hard thunderous spank. Jess yelped and ran toward the car. Lori saw Robert smiling and she said, "Will you call me later, Rob? I have some child rearing to do when I get home." Rob grinned and found himself willing to take a chance, so he said, "Like mother, like daughter?" Lori blushed a deep red and as Rob sat down behind the wheel of his car, she left him with, "Well, not on the first date!" All Rob could say was, "Well, to me, this was our first date!" As he drove away, he had a feeling that from now on, shopping trips would never be the same. © js@smilingwithteeth.com "Otkforu" not to be reposted without permission |
